The traditional leaders of northern Uganda have urged the government to support them if they are to support their subjects fight poverty.

Speaking during the 12th coronation anniversary of His majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III on Friday at Atyak seed secondary school, Rwoth David Onen Acana of Ker kwaro Acholi said that the cultural institutions are struggling and are unable to support their subjects.

He said that culturally the cultural leaders are to be taken care of by the subjects, but due to poverty and lack of resources this is not happening.

Rwoth Acana noted that the government needs to support them since they don’t get support except for the 5 million given to them monthly by government.

He noted that it is unfortunate that when the president wanted to support them, he was misadvised by some politicians who said that they would use the money to destabilize the government which is not true.

Meanwhile the king of Alur His Royal Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III added his voice to the call and said that the cultural institutions are really struggling and need to be supported if they are to help their subjects come out if poverty.
