AKASSH representatives meet with Alur Kingdom officials

Alur kingdom is to allocate over 2000 acres of land to AKASSH Green East Africa limited for bamboo plantation.

The land allocated in Pakich chiefdom Atyak sub county was originally given by his majesty Philip Olaker Rauni III for the resettlement of refugees in 2020 who were later taken to Imvepi camp.

During a meeting with AKASSH Green East Arica at Alur kingdom Offices recently Mr. Anandha Krishnan Global Head of plantations revealed that when established, the plantations will also be beneficial to the community in job creation, boosting oxygen, and the community will stop cutting trees for charcoal since the by product will be giving them charcoal. He stated;

“We also plan to put up a power station and  improve on the road network which will greatly impact on the lives of the community around ” he said

He said the project is worth 50 million dollars and the bamboo verity will be imported from South Africa.

Mr. Bob Opio Oketch the Attorney assured AKASSH  that the land they require is available but there is need to sensitize  the community living within Pakich before the inception of the project so that they can accept and also be part of it right from the beginning to avoid sabotage.

“This project is good for our people but we need to talk to them and tell them the benefit of this project so that are able to own it” he added.

He noted that the land will be given on lease of 49 years but this will be subjected to review after every 20 years.

Mr. Muzamil Olarker the chief of Pakich said that they accept the project as long as the terms and conditions on the land use are clear

“We are ready to sensitize our community to embrace this project because I know it will change their livelihood” he said.
